USA -Day 6 Maine

Bar Harbour, Maine

Woke up today in what Catriona and I are now calling the tower room. (Pictures to follow) Because the room is so high up in the house our windows aren't obscured by trees and where last night we could see the brilliant night sky, today we look out on the top of the trees surrounding the house (these trees are at least 40ft tall Spruce trees so as you can imagine its quite a view!)

At 8am, after a yummy breakfast, we headed on up Gorham Mountain for an early morning hike. let by Ron we felt like adventurers as we wound our way through the forest and followed a rocky trail up to they top which had a stunning viewing point looking out over the Gulf of Maine.

The view back towards Ron and Sandies house from a bit further up the hill.

We had a quick turnaround after we got back to the house before heading back out to town to visit a local farmers market. The wealth of locally produced goods was amazing with brilliant colours and shapes jumping out from the different stalls.

We went back to grab some lunch at the house before we gathered our stuff and headed for a tour along the east side of the island    towards the southern coast. Before heading back to Otter Cliffs Catriona, Ron, Dad and I went for a swim in Echo Lake. THIS WAS ACE! It was so refreshing and relaxing just to float about in the fresh water lake, surrounded by thick forest that blocked out the sound of the traffic on the nearby road and hid the hundreds of other people doing a similar thing to ourselves along the edge of the lake.

Another quick in-and-out dash to the house where we met up with Sandie before we headed out to a traditional music concert held at the local college 'Collage of the Atlantic' where both Ron and Sandie teach. A brilliant wee concert with twi bands, one that was a group of locals who haf only recently just started playing trad, followed by a Local Maine Duo who played s mix of Scottish, Irish, cape breton and Que-be-qua tunes. Fab night!

We had a late dinner and called it a night as we were all pooped!
Stay tuned to see pics from the past few days.
Thanks for reading
