USA - Day 4

Boston

Today has been a very full day for sure! It was pouring rain this morning so it was a late start, and by the end of our second breakfast here in the U.S we are all agreed that we will need to do double-time at the gym when we get home because we are just spoiled for choice in food here! We began with getting the subway to the museum of Fine Art which apparently to go around the whole museum properly will take you a day and a half. Unfortunately we did not have time to spare and had to choose the exhibitions we wanted to see. The highlights of the museum for me (catriona) would have to be the contemporary and the samurai exhibits — we ended up spending the morning there then we headed to Fenway Park, home of the Boston Red Soxs which was AWESOME!

Then as the day went on we got the subway to Harvard. The campus is stunning and the architecture is lovely, going to Uni there must be amazing. Then we headed back into town to following the freedom trail around the city leading you through the historic sites and the famous landmarks here.

This is the statue of John Harvard in the courtyard of Harvard Yard. However there are three lies on this statue... 1. This guy is not John Harvard it was Paul Revere. 2. John Harvard didn't found the university. 3. it wasn't founded in 1828.

We followed the train to the oldest tavern in Boston called the 'bell in hand' where we had a few cooling drinks before heading to the Italian districts of the city where in every shop you look is either an Italian restaurant or an ice cream shop. We had dinner in a quirky little Italian restaurant which felt like you were actually there. Great food, great people. As we walked off our great helpings of food we got caught in amongst the celebration of saint agrapina. The atmosphere was amazing full of laughter and the feel of community. It was a great way to end our last full day in Boston and now we are all looking forward to next stop... Bar Harbor, Maine.

P.S Fiona and I just watched the new Miley Cyrus film 'so undercover' ... Usually we are fans of her and all but the movie? Really? Honestly? It was terrible. But terrible in a really funny way so we couldn't help but watch it to the very end anyway, mum and dad are sleeping and getting annoyed at our giggling. Soz.
