Collingwood - Reefton - Springfield

Friday
The weather was not looking good for tonight and tomorrow, so we decided to pack up, tidy the house and leave a day early. A massive storing is supplied to blow over the north of  the South Island for the rest of the weekend so rather then ruin the end of a great week, and so that we weren't traveling home all day in the rain, we headed towards Franny and Graeme's home in the centre of the South Island. It would be an 8 hour drive normally but we have decided to do it over two days. Today we'll drive most of the way and stop overnight at a motel in Reefton.

We did stop on route to collect some material for gold panning, but as it was raining we just collected th material in a bucket and out it in the back of the yute.

Dinner at the local pub was amazing! Graeme and I had a fish supper, Franny had a curry. The pub had a great atmosphere but we were tired after a long day and so called it s night about 9:30pm :).

Saturday
The rain came in as expected today, and it came in heavy!! It poured all day, it didn't matter too much though as we were in the car for most of the day, and I quite like traveling in the rain. We stopped a couple of times to stretch our legs but headdd over the mountains via Arthur's Pass back to their home in Springfield. We got there late afternoon and put the fire on. It was very familiar in a weird but lovely way. Probably because so many of my fond New Zealand memories took place in this wee house, by it all felt smaller, probably because I'm a lot bigger now. It felt like come home, a home away from home. The garden had hardly changed at all, apart from that all the pine trees were now a pile or mulch and logs!  The house had some minor renevation done to it but still felt very much the same and it was lovely!

In the evening I set up Netflix (well I showed them how to work their chromecast and then set up a Netflix account for them) and we watched Four Weddings and a Funeral till it was time for dinner. Dinner and an early bed again. This holiday life really suits me, I'm not sure I want to go back to working again!? Haha
