On the road again!!

Hi there again (if anyone is out there) :P Fiona here again and I'm out traveling once more! Yaay! I've not done a lot of traveling done since last summer but I'm finally out of the UK again, this time in Alicante, Spain to get some much needed sun and r&r, with two of my best pals (Amanda and Claire).

We arrived in Spain yesterday afternoon and just had a walk into the town centre to get our bearings... Lovely walk even if it was longer than expected... On the plus side even at 8pm it was still hot out! :) We also had some fantastic tapas and cheap beers for dinner at a wee cafe on the outskirts of town...followed by a fabulous coffee and cake before getting a taxi back to the hotel to rest our weary heads after a loong day of traveling and excitement! :)

Today though we had an early but relaxed start , breakfast on our wee balcony then a taxi to the Castillo de Santa Barbara, a castle on the hill that looked like something out of game of thrones (at least it did to Claire and I who are a little GoT obsessed...)

We then headed into town to the Rambla de Alicante where we met up with my pal Fernando (who was studying abroad thst past year in Edinburgh, and living with me in out halls of residence flat). He lives in Alicante himself and drove us out to a beach near to where he lives (Comunidad Valenciana) where we had paella and tapas at a local restaurant. Fernando knew that the owners and was very helpful in translating and ordering the best dishes!! :D Unfortunately though Fer still has uni work to finish so he had to leave about 5pm to go back to the library. 

Us girls stayed at the beach and had a few more cocktails, swam a little in the sea, and caught some rays before getting the bus back to Alicante town centre about 8ish :) Then we had some cake and coffee at a wee cafe near the port of Alicante and had a wee dander around the gorgeous marina there :) night night and keep posted for some more Spanish adventures :) Fiona x
